Chateau Tanunda is the Barossa - see for yourself on our daily Chateau Tour. This majestic bluestone winery and estate is testament to the history and pioneering spirit of Australia's pre-eminent wine region. Chateau Tanunda's origins can be traced back to the 1860s and the decimation of European vineyards by phylloxera. Sensing opportunity in European adversity, the founders of Chateau Tanunda built a Bavarian-style chateau dedicated to the production of high quality wines. This tradition of fine wine making lives on through the passion of Geber family. Since taking ownership of The Chateau in 1988, the Gebers have restored the buildings and the wines to the highest standard, winning hundreds of awards locally and internationally for some of the best Shiraz, Grenache, Semillon and Riesling that Australia has to offer. A visit to the Barossa would not be complete without a visit to the iconic barrel hall cellar door where you can taste our wines, take a tour, enjoy a cheese platter or a game of croquet. A five star rated winery in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion, one of only twelve wineries selected to represent Australia at the G20 summit in 2014, and a previous winner of the International Shiraz Trophy and Single Estate Red Wine Trophy at the IWSC in London.
